New Functionality

  • NPR “Books We Love” Lists available for each year listed at https://apps.npr.org/best-books/
    • Creates a list for the chosen year.  Note that the data provides only one ISBN per title to match by so matching may be less robust than NY Times Best Sellers lists.
    • The description/review provided by NPR is set as the list entry note, with links to the NPR article(s)
    • The NPR entries have tags which are set as user tags for the title in Pika. The user tag begins with the prefix: “NPR Books We Love tag:”
  • Materials Request - created a Staff Comments field for internal notes.
    • Field is not displayed in the patron’s view of the request.
  • Polaris systems - process nightly due dates report so that checked out items will display the due date in the Copies section of the Record view page.

Bug Fixes

  • Correct wrong format determination of Music CD for Audio Books
  • Do not capitalize the home location code for Basalt Public Library self-registration users
  • For browse categories with a location scope in effect (e.g. OPACs within a library branch), the title pop-up would display “On Shelf” incorrectly for titles that are available at another branch.  Now the browse category title pop-up will correctly display “Available at another branch”
  • Polaris self-registration: Fix birth date bug

Additional Work

  • PHP8 
    • Upgrade PHP major version from 7 to version 8 (8.3)
    • Upgrade PHP modules to version compatible with PHP8
    • Upgrade Composer classes to versions compatible with PHP8
    • Fix non-functional Pika code to be compatible with PHP8
      • Replace or remove class libraries not compatible with PHP8
        • Replace PHPExcel with PHPSpreadsheet
        • Load class with composer
    • Update code to use new library
    • Created PHP8 configuration files to be used by all servers
      • Configs for test and production servers
      • Added to Pika settings repository
      • Built appropriate links to config files on servers
  • Removed Kanopy sideload for Loveland
